Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound along with the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. Later that year her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she announced that she was contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. Also, she was featured in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. On the 9th of November she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then on the 13th of November two singles called No One and Pedigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album the same title. On February 20, 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. The track has received nearly three millions views on YouTube in its debut week. In support of the track She toured together with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
