Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she won the Emmy Award. She has also starred in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the child of an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also the mother of her children. Delaney has four older brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. But in highschool, when she started modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. When she was a teenager the first time she appeared as an actor was on the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of TV movies, film as well as dramas in the years since. Like her career however, her private life has not been happy or successful. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism throughout her life and has been through two marriages that failed. In 2005, she lost custody of her only son.
